How to pay for your student's college education is an important decision for your family to make. Many resources are available to you and your student. This information will assist you in determining which options best meet your family situation.
Academic Scholarships
Completing the admission application process automatically places students in consideration for academic scholarships. Priority deadline for scholarship awarding was December 3, 2007.
For additional information about academic scholarships or foundation scholarship opportunities, visit the web site www.ulm.edu/scholarships.
Financial Aid
Review this chart (pdf) for information about grants, loans and other programs. For more information about financial aid, see the web site www.ulm.edu/financialaid.
This program provides undergraduate students with financial need an opportunity for employment, allowing them to earn money for education-related expenses. Jobs are part-time and can be located either on or off campus. Hourly pay is at least the federal minimum wage and students are paid monthly.
State-Based Opportunities
TOPS is a comprehensive state scholarship program offered to students who are residents of Louisiana. ULM accepts the TOPS Opportunity Award, Performance Award and the Honors Award. To apply for TOPS, submit the FAFSA for the academic year your student graduates from high school. Make certain to list ULM as a university of choice. The FAFSA should be received by May 1 for priority consideration and must be received by July 1 to avoid penalty. For more information, contact the guidance counselor at your student's high school or the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance at 800-259-5626 or www.osfa.state.la.us.
Other Resources
Payment Plan - The ULM Payment Plan allows students to pay their tuition in payments rather than in one lump sum. This is not a loan program, thus no interest is charged. Payments are divided into thirds. The first payment, along with the $40 processing fee, is due prior to the fee payment deadline date. Contact the Office of Student Billing at (318)342-5116 for additional information.
