Advocacy Team Mission
The mission of the Advocacy Team is to gather and disseminate
information regarding the teaching of foreign languages and to develop
position papers for LFLTA. The Committee will also assist educators and
interested supporters in demonstrating and encouraging the importance
of language study for students of Louisiana and the nation.
The current issue before us
is the possible modification of the TOPS requirements. If you
would like to use or adapt the letter that we have drafted to be sent
to legislators and BESE Board members, click

Dear Fellow-World Languages Colleagues and Aficionados...
February is DISCOVER LANGUAGES month!
This month, and the rest of the year, we must spread the message of the
urgency of language learning even more than we have done in former
times.
May we continue to inspire, change hearts, minds, attitudes and
policies towards a greater awareness of, and appreciation for learning
to speak more than just one language in the United States of America,
in the 21st century! We owe it to our children, and indeed to all
children! They must be prepared and skilled enough to meet the
challenges and opportunities of an increasingly more globalized,
diverse and multicultural/multilingual 21st century world!
