LFLTA MINI-GRANTS

PURPOSE:  To recognize, promote, and strengthen Louisiana's foreign language teachers and their profession.
AVAILABLE GRANTS:  Two grants of up to $500 each will be offered.
ELIGIBILITY:  Applicants may be foreign language teachers at any level at a Louisiana public or private institution.  ONLY ONE application per teacher may be submitted.  Applicants must be members of LFLTA.
PURPOSE OF GRANTS:  To inspire teachers to find new and creative ways to challenge, stimulate, and encourage learning in the foreign language classroom.
REVIEW PROCESS:  Applications are anonymous.  Information about the teacher and the school is only permitted on the application cover sheet.  Winning grant proposals will demonstrate creativity in meeting a specific curriculum challenge, a direct learning benefit for students and the promotion of academic excellence.
FOLLOW-UP EVALUATION:  Those receiving grants will be sent an evaluation questionnaire to provide feedback to LFLTA on improving future mini-grant programs.
DEADLINE:  The deadline for submission of a grant proposal is February 1, 2009.  Mini-grants will be awarded at the LFLTA conference in February 27 and 28, 2009.  Winners need to be present or send a representative to receive their awards.
