PROFESSIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
University of Louisiana at Monroe - Graduate Assistant (August 2000 - Present). Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic - Served as administrative assistant for ULM's Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic. Responsible for the organization and management of all electronic and written communications. Served as liaison to the Ouachita Parish District Attorney's office. Scheduled Intake appointments, and therapy sessions.
University of Louisiana at Monroe - Graduate Assistant (August 2000 - Present). Office of Graduate Studies and Research - Analyzed prospective student applications. Responsible for written communication to all applicants(acceptance and denial letters). Coordinated, circulated, collected and documented Graduate Evaluations.
Lake Charles Mental Health Center - Mental Health Counselor (August1999 - December 1999). LCMHC - Day Hospital - Served as counselor to a psychiatrically acute population, through use of verbal interventions to manage disruptive behavior, millie management skills, and leadership/supportive role during crisis situations. Responsibilities included facilitating various groups, charting, intake assessments, and Medicaid billing. Provided a sounding board for patients to verbalize, rather than act out on their emotional stressors. Assisted patients in reaching their baseline.
McNeese State University - Pharmacology Research Lab Assistant (January 2000 - May 2000). Pharmacology Research Lab - Responsible for the coordination and facilitation of feeding times. General up keep of specimen units. Collected and organized data. Ensured the maintenance of the authenticity of research methodology.

Therapy Clinic Intern- Broaden the traditional emphasis on
the individual to attend to the nature and role of individuals
in primary relationship networks such as marriage and the family.
Take a holistic perspective to health care; concerned with the
overall, long-term well-being of individuals and their families.
Treat a wide range of serious clinical problems including: depression,
marital problems, anxiety, individual psychological problems,
and child-parent problems
People's Unlimited- Responsible for assisting social worker
with various assessments with families and children with disabilities,
charting, and facilitating in home interviews.
Ouachita Parish High school A+ Academy- Serve as a counselor
to at risk high school students ranging from ages 14 to 19 through
use of verbal interventions to manage disruptive behavior, millie
management skills, and leadership/ supportive role during critical
moments. Provided a sounding board for students to verbalize,
rather than act out on their emotional stressors.
PROFESSIONAL AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES:
Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of Southwestern Louisiana - Serve as a mentor and role model to my school aged little sister. Produce positive changes in the child, including a strengthened sense of self-worth and improved relationships and performance at home, school and in the community. A commitment of two visits per month and weekly contacts is made by each volunteer to this relationship.
Campus Partners - Became a positive role model and mentor providing tutorial assistance and emotional support through a caring consistent relationship with "at-risk" 6th and 8th grade students.
Ourstory - Engaged in preventive literacy work through story sharing and other activities with children in day care and elementary students.
Outreach Day - Participated in educational, cultural,
and social enrichment activities with 5-10 yr. olds who visited
campus monthly.
HONORS/ AWARDS:
Psi Chi - National Honor Society in Psychology founded for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology.
Delta Kappa - National Honor Society which acts as a
forum for ideas and issues to be discussed and developed for rising
professionals in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy.
SPECIAL INTERESTS:
Academic Interests - Teaching and practicing the family medical model, acquiring administrative and grant writing skills, developing a model designed for African American families which involves interventions grounded in spirituality as well as sexuality.
Research Interests - I aspire to study multicultural parenting styles and the similarities of healing practices in different African American cultures.
Personal Interests - My hobbies include reciting original
poetry, presenting or speaking publicly, and developing black
and white photographs.

The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy -
AAMFT is the professional association for the field of marriage
and family therapy. AAMFT is involved with the problems, needs,
and changing patterns of couples and family relationships. The
association leads the way to increasing understanding, research
and education in the field of marriage and family therapy, and
ensuring that the public's needs are met by trained practitioners.
The AAMFT provides individuals with the tools and resources they
need to succeed as marriage and family therapists.
