"A Disarming Conversation: Creating Critical Incident Change in a Crisis Negotiation"
· Analyzed, with the cooperation of supervisory special agents at the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Crisis Management Unit in Quantico, Virginia, how law enforcement officers resolved a high school hostage incident through an 8-hour discourse with the hostage taker.
· Used Naturalistic Inquiry and qualitative methods of Ethnography, Interpersonal Process Recall, and Discourse Analysis, to gain a comprehensive understanding of how negotiators initiated, developed, and maintained a dialogue that resulted in a peaceful resolution to the incident.Nova Southeastern University, Dept. of Family Therapy
