loves fashion, developed love for math
Chinechendu Udeinya is a sophomore pre-nursing major from Nigeria, West Africa.
My mother lives in New York City, and my dad and my elder brother live in Nigeria. As much as I miss my home and being away from my friends, my loved ones, my favorite food, and a familiar environment, the most important thing that has kept me going thus far is knowing that I'm here for a purpose -to fulfill a dream. I communicate with my family so often that it is not really that difficult to adjust. ULM is a hospitable environment with very nice and generous people. The friendly environment helped me adjust rather quickly.
I am an International Student Organization member, vice president of the ULM soccer club, and a volunteer instructor in children's church at Prevailing Faith Ministries. I also work for ULM’s Office of University Advancement & External Affairs.
I am pursuing my dream of becoming a Supermodel and establishing a clothing/fashion complex. I have a few collections of clothing designs that I made. I love fashion, clothing, makeup and everything about dress-up. I also want to contribute to the growth of my community in Nigeria where there are not many Health Centers for the under-privileged; I want to establish a non-profit organization for sexually abused teenagers in Nigeria. I would love to give those teenagers a voice.
My residence hall room is my favorite spot on campus. I enjoy being in my room because it is a really peaceful place. Being away from the public and in the comfort of my bedroom makes it my favorite spot on campus.
One of my favorite professors is Mr. Boughton of the Mathematics Department. He was my teacher for two semesters. He is very elaborate when delivering his lectures. When I was in high school, I hated math, but in college I love math. It’s one of my favorite classes, not because I love calculations a lot, but because Mr. Boughton made the class very interesting.
My first day of class is my favorite memory at ULM. The classrooms were different than what I was used to. I like being in a small population of students versus the 80 students that I was used to. It was really nice and comfortable.
ULM has helped me grow in terms of being independent, responsible, and confident in the decisions I make. I have learned how to focus and how to study better with the library only a walking distance from me. So far, I love it.
