passion for singing, performance memories
Kelly Vaden is a senior music theatre major from Hyattsville, Maryland.
I am active in music, theatre, and Delta Omicron. I also work in the Controller's Office, tutor, and sing at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
My ultimate goal is to sing at the Metropolitan Opera. Singing is my passion and while I enjoy performing many styles and genres, opera is my favorite.
While I really enjoy the new Starbucks, I'd have to say that my favorite spot on campus is the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall. Whether being on the stage or sitting in the audience, it is one of the most wonderful places to be. Emotion conveyed through the performance of music fills the hall and moves those who allow it to wash over them.
I have many professors who I value, who have taught me about their respective academic subjects and life in general. To choose just one favorite professor would be impossible.
My favorite ULM memory is performing as Princess Puffer in "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," under the direction of Dr. Keith White. The show was interactive, and the audience decided the outcome. The cast and crew were amazing and the connection and support among its members was very strong.
ULM has helped me grow inside the classroom and out. I have been lucky enough to work with, be taught by, and befriend people who have touched my life in various ways.
